Parents

Get Involved!

Parent involvement is one of the many reasons St. James Preschool is such a wonderful place for both parents and children.  Parents are always encouraged to provide support to the Preschool in various ways, such as:

  • Serving as a Room Parent

Our Room Parents play a critical role in communicating with their classes and coordinating classroom events. A rewarding part of being a Room Parent is getting to know your child's teacher and other parents in the classroom.

  • Helping with class parties and other festive events through the year

There are four class parties during each school year: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. Sign up to provide a light snack lunch for your child’s class to be served that consists of a protein, carb, fruit/veggie and a small treat. Room Parents and Teachers to provide class specific details.

  • Serving as a Board Member

The Preschool Board oversees policy-making and fundraising and supports the Preschool Director in the overall administration of the Preschool.

  • Helping with the Silent Auction

The school's largest fundraiser, held every two years, does not happen without the help and support of our families. The auction committee needs parents who are willing to reach out to friends, family, and community to collect donations for our auction. Volunteers may also be asked to be present the day before and/or day of the auction to help organize and set up the space. Volunteers will meet once or twice in person to get the committee organized and explain the process. We will also need help with classroom art projects, which our volunteers will be asked to coordinate.

  • Helping with the Spring Carnival

This event is truly a favorite but we can't do it without the help of our wonderful parents and community. A rain or shine event held each Spring with preschool-aged games, rides, arts, and crafts, along with food, fellowship and fun. Whether it is to assist in planning in advance or to assist with set up, to man a station or clean up, your contribution will make all the difference.

  • Helping with Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) is an important time to remember our wonderful teachers and let them know how much we appreciate them.  In addition to each class doing something special for their teacher(s), the school will also host a luncheon on the Wednesday of TAW where volunteers are needed to help with general preparation and set-up, food, service during the event, and clean-up.

  • Volunteering at the Book Fairs

Shopping the book fair is a great way to support the school and volunteers are needed to help work the fair. Don't forget to check out the wish lists for your child(ren)'s classroom.  The teachers always welcome new additions to their classroom libraries!

Trusted And Loved By Atlanta’s Parents

Our children have been coming to SJP since our youngest was in the young 2's class. I didn't realize then what a jackpot we had hit when we got that spot! We have fallen in love with this school...the teachers, staff and entire community. It is truly a place where love and kindness are at the forefront of the daily learning process. My children come home brimming with enthusiasm from all that they have experienced at school and it is such a blessing for them to be surrounded by this amazing environment.

I can't say enough about how pleased we are with the program at St. James.  Each teacher my son has had has been just as amazing as the last, the staff really does care about their students and the school is the perfect environment for young children feel secure and confident while they thrive.  We are so grateful for the education he is receiving.

St. James  Preschool is a very special place to our family. My daughter began here six years ago and by the time my fourth child finishes preschool, we will have been at St. James for 12 consecutive years. The play-based curriculum in combination with the experienced teachers have resulted in very successful transitions to elementary school for my two oldest. We love it so much that we have joined the church- St. James is our family and we cherish our children's preschool years here!

As a mom of three children who have attended St. James Preschool, I have repeatedly experienced the warm, encouraging atmosphere it provides. Each of our children have blossomed under the loving care of their teachers here, and though our oldest two have moved on, my husband and I continue to see our third nurtured and loved in the same way.

Over the last 3 years attending St James Preschool, our family has form relationships and connections that will last a lifetime. St James Preschool has proven for us to be a fun, safe, spiritual and creative place for young minds. Our kids don't walk in to school each day, they run happily. Its a great place for little ones to be  socialized or prepping our "big kids' for kindergarten. We love our St James family!
