Parents

Get Involved!

Parent involvement is one of the many reasons St. James Preschool is such a wonderful place for both parents and children.  Parents are always encouraged to provide support to the Preschool in various ways, such as:

  • Serving as a Room Parent

Our Room Parents play a critical role in communicating with their classes and coordinating classroom events. A rewarding part of being a Room Parent is getting to know your child's teacher and other parents in the classroom.

  • Helping with class parties and other festive events through the year

There are four class parties during each school year: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. Sign up to provide a light snack lunch for your child’s class to be served that consists of a protein, carb, fruit/veggie and a small treat. Room Parents and Teachers to provide class specific details.

  • Serving as a Board Member

The Preschool Board oversees policy-making and fundraising and supports the Preschool Director in the overall administration of the Preschool.

  • Helping with the Silent Auction

The school's largest fundraiser, held every two years, does not happen without the help and support of our families. The auction committee needs parents who are willing to reach out to friends, family, and community to collect donations for our auction. Volunteers may also be asked to be present the day before and/or day of the auction to help organize and set up the space. Volunteers will meet once or twice in person to get the committee organized and explain the process. We will also need help with classroom art projects, which our volunteers will be asked to coordinate.

  • Helping with the Spring Carnival

This event is truly a favorite but we can't do it without the help of our wonderful parents and community. A rain or shine event held each Spring with preschool-aged games, rides, arts, and crafts, along with food, fellowship and fun. Whether it is to assist in planning in advance or to assist with set up, to man a station or clean up, your contribution will make all the difference.

  • Helping with Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) is an important time to remember our wonderful teachers and let them know how much we appreciate them.  In addition to each class doing something special for their teacher(s), the school will also host a luncheon on the Wednesday of TAW where volunteers are needed to help with general preparation and set-up, food, service during the event, and clean-up.

  • Volunteering at the Book Fairs

Shopping the book fair is a great way to support the school and volunteers are needed to help work the fair. Don't forget to check out the wish lists for your child(ren)'s classroom.  The teachers always welcome new additions to their classroom libraries!

Trusted And Loved By Atlanta’s Parents

As a former elementary school assistant principal and teacher, it was important for me to find a preschool for my own child that had an enriching curriculum and a nurturing community. When we found St. James, we feel like we hit the jack pot! The school has a close-knit feel; the director knows the name of EVERY student. And for the academics, the research-based phonics and handwriting instruction ensures high levels of learning for all students.

Our family has been at St James Preschool for many years, and it has been such an incredible experience for our children and for us as parents. We’ve watched our kids fall in love with learning and develop what will no doubt be lifelong friendships. Throughout their time at the preschool, our children have been surrounded by teachers and staff who put so much effort in getting to know and care for each child who walks through the doors. St James Preschool will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Ryan & Melissa Briley

The moment we walked through St. James we knew that this was the school for our girls. Having just moved to the Atlanta, St. James gave us the sense of community that we needed. We are now going on year 4, and at the end of each year we are so happy to know that it was not yet our last. We love everything about St. James - the staff, the curriculum, the beautiful playground, the welcoming classrooms, and the families. St. James is truly wonderful!

St. James Preschool is more than just a school, it’s a community filled with love and compassion for growing our children! This is seen through the simple yet intentional acts of each teacher and staff, starting from knowing all kids’ names during carpool to genuinely investing in your family (even after they graduate from the school!) Each year as we progress into a different class, I think to myself this can’t top last year and then somehow it does. We truly feel blessed to have the teachers, staff, and other families at St. James as part of our extended family and know they are all having a positive impact on our children.
